In a message marking the anniversary of the elections, Grech said that “two years ago we began a road of hope forward,” recalling the emotions felt when the results of the European Parliament and Local Council elections were announced. He said he continues to cherish those moments, describing them as a significant milestone for the party.
Grech highlighted that the Nationalist Party not only succeeded in electing a third Member of the European Parliament but also reduced the electoral gap to “just 8,400 votes.” He pointed to this result as evidence of growing support among voters at the time.
The former PN leader also referred to the party’s performance in the Local Council elections, stating that it registered increases across localities. According to Grech, the party gained new majorities in seven localities and increased its number of councillors in almost every town and village.
Reflecting on the achievement, Grech said it was “an honour and privilege” to have served as leader during these advances. He added that the work carried out over the past two years would continue, saying that members and supporters would keep building together under the leadership of Alex Borg.
