Malta has officially been announced as the host country for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026, with the event set to take place on Saturday 24 October at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali. The announcement was made on Friday 15 May, just one day before the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.

This will mark the third time Malta hosts the prestigious children’s music competition, following successful editions in 2014 and 2016. Organisers said the venue will be transformed into a “vibrant Eurovision Festa Village”, combining Malta’s traditional festa atmosphere with international music production. PBS invited fans to “unite with us for a unique celebration where Mediterranean tradition and the future of music unite under one sky.”

Malta remains one of the most successful countries in Junior Eurovision history, having won twice through Gaia Cauchi and Destiny. Martin Green, Director of Junior Eurovision, praised Malta’s “exceptional track record” and said PBS understands “how to create a world-class event for young performers.”

PBS CEO Keith Chetcuti said that Malta is “ready to host such a prestigious event.” Further details and participating countries are expected in the coming months.
