Malta is officially through to the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 after Aidan qualified with his song Bella during Thursday night’s second semi-final in Vienna.

Performing in the 14th position of the night, Aidan impressed audiences across Europe with a performance that combined cinematic staging, strong vocals, and a mix of Maltese and English lyrics. Malta was later announced as one of the ten countries advancing to Saturday’s Grand Final, sparking celebrations among Maltese fans both in Vienna and back home.

The qualification marks an important Eurovision moment for Malta, particularly as Bella brought the Maltese language back to the Eurovision stage after many years. Fans and commentators praised the visuals and atmosphere of the performance, with many describing it as one of Malta’s strongest Eurovision entries in recent years.

For many people in Malta, Aidan’s qualification also provided a moment of national celebration and unity during a period heavily dominated by the ongoing electoral campaign leading up to the 30th of May general election. Social media quickly filled with messages of support and congratulations, with Eurovision temporarily becoming the centre of national attention.

Aidan first earned the right to represent Malta after winning the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2026 earlier this year. Malta will now compete in Saturday’s Grand Final alongside the other qualifying countries and the automatically qualified nations.
