Momentum has raised concerns over increasing complaints related to excessive noise from open-air parties in the Ta’ Qali area. Residents from Mosta, Żebbuġ, Attard and Rabat have reported ongoing disturbances late at night, with events continuing into the early hours. The organisation stated that while cultural and entertainment activities are important, they should not compromise residents’ right to rest and quality of life.
In a statement, Momentum explained that noise levels are often exceeding reasonable limits and that there is a lack of proper regulation and enforcement. Executive Committee member Katya Compagno said that “for years, both the Labour Party and the Nationalist Party have been complicit in allowing a ‘free-for-all’ situation in Ta’ Qali.” She added that this has led to “ongoing disruption affecting thousands of residents,” stressing that the issue lies in the absence of control over noise levels and operating hours.
Secretary General Mark Camilleri Gambin stated that “meaningful change… will only come through political will,” adding that Momentum is committed to introducing clear regulations and enforcement. The party said its aim is to ensure that entertainment and community wellbeing can coexist.
