Labour Questions PN Credibility on Energy Policy

The Labour Party has criticised Opposition leader Alex Borg following a recent speech, accusing him of delivering remarks “with a number of mistakes” while completely ignoring what it described as one of the most important issues facing Malta and other countries — energy.

In a statement, the Labour Party argued that the omission of energy and fuel from Borg’s address reflects what it called a “crisis of competence and credibility” within the Nationalist Party. It maintained that the PN appears uncomfortable discussing the sector, particularly in light of what it described as the government’s established track record.

The statement emphasised that the current energy policy implemented by the Labour administration remains “the best guarantee for strong economic growth, employment for all, and improved family incomes.” It suggested that the Opposition’s silence on the matter highlights a lack of clear direction on a key national issue.

While the Labour Party focused its criticism on the absence of energy-related proposals, the exchange adds to ongoing political debate surrounding economic stability, cost of living, and long-term sustainability.

The discussion on energy continues to play a central role in national discourse, especially as households and businesses remain sensitive to price stability and supply security.
