A 22-year-old man has been arrested in St. Paul’s Bay after being found in possession of drugs and linked to a theft case. The incident took place yesterday at around 10:00 a.m. in Triq il-Boxxla, when officers from the Patrol and Community Support unit were carrying out a routine foot patrol.
Police identified the man as someone who was already being sought in connection with the theft of a mobile phone from a shop in the same locality. Assistance was immediately requested, and additional officers arrived on site to stop and search the suspect.
During the search, officers found eight packets containing a substance suspected to be heroin. A subsequent search at the man’s residence led to the discovery of another substance believed to be cannabis.
The man was arrested on the spot and is expected to be arraigned in court in the coming days. The case highlights ongoing police efforts to address both theft and drug-related offences within the community.
