Opposition Leader and Partit Nazzjonalista Leader Alex Borg has emphasised the importance of ensuring that the Corradino Correctional Facility (CCF) remains a place where individuals can rehabilitate themselves with dignity, while also stressing that justice must always be served to victims.

During a visit to the Facility, Borg highlighted its key role in supporting rehabilitation and reintegration into society, noting the preparatory work carried out to help residents rebuild their lives. He stated that it is essential to continue strengthening the work of the Facility to ensure it operates effectively and humanely. Borg had the opportunity to meet officials involved in the correctional sector, including medical staff and members of the Correctional Services Agency.
Welcomed by Director Chris Siegersma and Chief Operations Officer Colonel Etienne Scicluna, the PN Leader was briefed on daily operations and the challenges faced by both residents and officers. He toured several areas, including the clinic, chapel, Learning Hub, and the prison bakery, before holding a meeting with the Facility’s management.
Accompanied by Shadow Minister Darren Carabott and MP Ivan Bartolo, Borg reiterated that while rehabilitation is essential, residents must recognise the consequences of their actions. He stressed the need for a balanced approach that ensures accountability while providing the necessary support to prevent reoffending.
