Malta Deepens Bilateral Relations with Namibia Through High-Level Engagements

Ambassador Clifford Galea is currently in Namibia on a diplomatic mission that includes “follow-ups, new meetings, and exploratory engagements in the cultural, economic, and diplomatic fields.” His visit forms part of Malta’s efforts to deepen its bilateral relations and explore new areas of cooperation.

Strengthening Strategic Cooperation

Namibian Investment Promotion & Development Board

A key engagement during the visit was a meeting with the Namibian Investment Promotion & Development Board, where Ambassador Galea discussed opportunities for collaboration in fisheries, education, and agriculture. He expressed Malta’s commitment to “fostering sustainable and mutually beneficial partnerships,” highlighting the potential for long-term cooperation between the two nations.

Genius Robotic Club

Ambassador Galea also met with the Genius Robotic Club, praising their dedication to advancing robotics education for children. He noted that “although today he lost a dear member of his family, he still met me to discuss a robotics project for children in schools. I admired him.” The encounter underscored the shared value placed on youth innovation and educational development.

Visit to Cornerstone Wellness Centre

Cornerstone Wellness Centre

While in Namibia, Ambassador Galea visited the Cornerstone Wellness Centre, a rehabilitation facility. He shared his personal journey of recovery and reflected on the achievement represented in his book, stating that “defeat is a temporal downfall. ” He commended the centre’s approach to supporting individuals battling addiction and expressed gratitude for their meaningful exchange.

Diplomatic Programme Participation

End of Year Diplomatic Greeting

Ambassador Galea also took part in Namibia’s official “End of Year Diplomatic Greeting,” held at the Old Cabinet Chambers. The programme opened with welcoming remarks from Amb. Julia Imene-Chanduru. Statements were also delivered by Hon. Amb. Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, Minister of International Relations and Trade, and H.E. Ms. Lauria Ngayino née Nguele-Makouelet, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, before a session of discussions.
