Sedqa, within the Foundation for Social Welfare Services (FSWS), has launched a new booklet featuring “different mocktail recipes,” produced in collaboration with the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS). The mocktails are described as “creative drinks, similar to alcoholic cocktails but containing no alcohol,” offering families, young people, and hospitality professionals fresh alternatives during the festive season. The publication aims to “increase awareness of fresh and appealing alternatives… without the risks associated with alcohol.”

Details were announced during a Wednesday morning event at the ITS campus in Ħal Luqa. Sedqa explained that the initiative forms part of its ongoing mission “to promote a healthier lifestyle and responsible choices in social events.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg praised Sedqa and ITS for this social collaboration, noting that “alcohol abuse not only ruins festivities, but can have far worse consequences.” He added that responsible and sustainable tourism requires the hospitality sector to offer such alternatives.

Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights Michael Falzon also commended Sedqa’s continued development of its services, emphasising that “alcohol and drug abuse are not the solution.” FSWS Chief Executive Alfred Grixti welcomed the initiative’s strong educational message, while Sedqa and FSWS thanked ITS and Farsons for their collaboration. Copies of the booklet will be available to the public through Sedqa’s services.
