On World Human Rights Day, which also marks the end of the 16 Days of Activism Against Domestic and Gender-Based Violence, the Partit Nazzjonalista reiterated its pledge to “uphold and strengthen the fundamental rights of every individual, without discrimination and without conditions.” The party stressed that human rights “are not privileges to be granted or withdrawn according to political convenience – they are universal, inherent, and non-negotiable.”

In its statement, the PN expressed concern about what it described as “a dangerous narrative suggesting that rights should be ‘earned’.” It affirmed that this is not aligned with its vision, insisting that “every person, whoever they may be, is entitled to the dignity and protection afforded by the European Convention on Human Rights and the principles of the European Union.”

The PN said it “condemns any attempt to diminish or weaken these guarantees,” calling for stronger institutions capable of delivering justice, transparency, and protection for all, including “the vulnerable, migrants, and those who too often end up marginalised.” The statement concluded by emphasising that human rights remain the foundation of freedom, equality, and peace, with the party reaffirming its commitment to safeguard these values across policy and legislation.
