A €700,000 infrastructural investment in Sir Harry Luke Street, Mġarr has been completed, delivering what officials described as “a holistic €700,000 investment ensuring peace of mind for residents” . The Public Works Department noted that recent months have been “intensive ones,” particularly with long-awaited interventions in residential areas and heavily used streets.
According to the Parliamentary Secretariat for Public Works, the works carried out in recent weeks will “provide peace of mind to Mġarr residents as well as to all those who use this major road, which links several localities” . Parliamentary Secretary Omar Farrugia, during a visit to the locality, highlighted the importance of such projects, stating that they are undertaken “with a clear vision, to ensure peace of mind for residents while strengthening the safety and well-being of drivers who use these major residential roads” .
The project included extensive upgrades: 350 metres of new pavements, new manholes, 450 metres of electricity and telecommunications cabling, stormwater culverts, rubble walls, new street lighting, upgraded water and drainage services for nearby homes, and 3,600 square metres of fresh asphalt.
Mġarr Mayor Paul Vella emphasised that these works were “very necessary… for the driver’s safety but also for all those who use this main road” .
