Leader of the Opposition Alex Borg today addressed the MedTech World Malta 2025 Summit, calling for “a new national strategy that places Malta at the forefront of medical technology, digital health, and innovation-driven growth.” Speaking at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, he described MedTech World as “a remarkable Maltese success story” that grew from a start-up into a global platform uniting scientists, healthcare workers, and investors.

Borg stressed the need for a shift towards prevention and technology in healthcare. “We must move from reaction to prevention,” he said, urging the adoption of data-driven solutions that help citizens detect illnesses early and manage conditions more effectively. He noted the growing number of start-ups and innovators present, calling their participation “proof that Malta can be a home for emerging science and breakthrough innovation.”

The PN Leader praised MedTech World CEO Dr Dylan Attard, saying, “Dylan’s work proves that age does not define capability,” and highlighted their collaboration through the World Mental Health Leaders Network. Addressing investors, Borg emphasised that “Malta is small, but our ambitions are not,” thanking them for supporting ideas that become global solutions.
He concluded by reminding stakeholders that innovation must always serve patients: “This sector deals with life and wellbeing.”
