Mqabba FC is now benefiting from modern and safer sports facilities following works carried out by the Public Works Department. During a visit to the club, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia, accompanied by Club President Terrance Briffa, observed how around 110 children and youths who attend the club’s nursery, as well as the senior team, are now training in an improved and secure environment.

Parliamentary Secretary Farrugia highlighted that the works undertaken at Mqabba FC and at other clubs, including Siggiewi FC, Luqa St Andrew’s, Lija Athletics FC and Dingli Swallows FC, represent more than construction investment. He stated that these projects are “an investment in the formation of every child who holds a passion for the game of football,” stressing that sports and voluntary organisations are “key instruments for education, discipline, and social inclusion.”
He added that modern and safe facilities are essential to ensure that young athletes develop their talents in a healthy environment, while also creating a space where parents, coaches, and communities can come together. “With this investment, we are not only improving club facilities, but we are also nurturing a generation that learns the values of unity and respect,” Farrugia said.

Club President Terrance Briffa welcomed the collaboration with the Public Works Department, noting that the upgrades are enabling all teams to train in safer and more modern surroundings.
Works included upgraded fencing and netting, a new lighting system, and modernised changing rooms. The visit was also attended by Mayor Grace Marie Zerafa and Public Works Director General Perit Stephen Bonello.
