Prime Minister and Labour Party leader Robert Abela addressed a large crowd during a political mass meeting in Kottonera on Sunday as the electoral campaign ahead of the 30 May general election continues.

Speaking to supporters, Abela said the government’s energy to continue working “comes from the enthusiasm of the people, their dreams and the needs of the Maltese and Gozitan people.” He described the Labour movement as one that offers “stability, protection during times of crisis and a long-term vision with fresh ideas for our country.”
During the speech, the Prime Minister outlined several proposals aimed at workers, young people and first-time buyers. Among the key announcements was a yearly €1,000 grant for every worker in Malta. Abela stated: “Every worker will receive it. If you and your partner both work, you will both receive it, €2,000.”
He also referred to Malta as having “the strongest economy in Europe” and said these measures are possible because of the country’s economic performance. Abela insisted the Labour Party offers responsible leadership and criticised what he described as “auction-style politics.”
The Prime Minister ended his address by urging supporters to continue speaking to undecided voters, saying the country’s future depends on the choices made in the coming election.
