The Leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista, Alex Borg, announced a series of new proposals during a political event in Żejtun, including a measure that would introduce an “annual 100% VAT refund” for registered NGOs and voluntary organisations on goods and services directly linked to their mission.
Alex Borg stated that under a Nationalist Government, NGOs and voluntary organisations would receive greater financial support. He noted that many organisations have operated for years from government-leased properties and invested their limited resources to maintain and adapt these spaces for public benefit. He also announced that the principle allowing the purchase of government properties would be extended to eligible NGOs.
During his speech, Borg also referred to a debate he and Prime Minister Robert Abela had reportedly been invited to attend, saying the debate did not take place. He added that the Nationalist Party had already started presenting its vision through a number of economic and fiscal proposals. These include tax bracket reforms, a “€1000 skills wallet” for every Maltese citizen over the age of 18, and investment in sectors related to Data, AI, and New Space.
Borg also reiterated that under a Nationalist Government, electricity bills would decrease by an average of 30% from January 1. At the end of the activity, he paid tribute to several individuals, including late doctor Sandy Cachia Zammit.
