A new agreement has been signed to strengthen inclusive learning at Malta’s national science centre, with a focus on accessibility for individuals with diverse needs. The initiative brings together Esplora, Xjenza Malta, and The Malta Trust Foundation under a shared vision of enhancing educational experiences through a multi-sensory approach.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation, Keith Azzopardi Tanti, presided over the signing, highlighting how such collaborations create “real impact: better access, stronger participation, and improved experiences for citizens.” The programme will introduce structured sessions in a dedicated multi-sensory room, designed especially for visitors on the autism spectrum and others with specific needs.

President Emeritus Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca described the agreement as “a concrete commitment to inclusion in action,” noting that participants will not only be accommodated but “actively empowered through specialised, high-quality experiences based on the senses and the arts.”

Esplora’s Senior Director Mary Ann Cauchi added that the initiative reflects a growing commitment to making science and STEAM education accessible to all communities. The project forms part of Esplora’s strategic development for 2026, reinforcing efforts to ensure national educational spaces respond to real societal needs.
