Revelations published in today’s press have renewed calls from the Opposition for Minister Roderick Galdes to resign. The Sunday Times of Malta reported that the duplex penthouse purchased by Galdes “cost €45,000 less than a similar property in the same block” sold two years earlier, despite Galdes’s unit including “a jacuzzi, airspace and garage.” Opposition Leader Alex Borg said this strengthens the PN’s position that Galdes must resign or be removed.
Borg, interviewed in Gozo on NET TV, recalled that the PN had already called for Galdes’s resignation following allegations by former Labour MEP Marlene Mizzi, who claimed she was dismissed after reporting political interference and said Galdes had been “cosying up to contractors.” He noted that Galdes bought his penthouse from the same contractor who received €27 million in Housing Authority contracts.
Borg criticised the continued refusal by the Prime Minister and Ministers to publish their asset declarations, saying people are waiting to see “what Roderick Galdes has declared.” He confirmed the PN will publish its audited accounts in the coming days, marking an early pledge fulfilled.
The PN Leader also outlined proposals to help young people become homeowners and emphasised the need for modern education, sustainable population planning, and improved support for victims of abuse.
